I was wondering if anyone can say that they have been able to diet and it works. I mean everyone I know and half talked to and that have tried these mircale diets off the tv say its all crap. The best way to lose weight is to get a good work out in, 3-4 times a week, leaning more on the cardio side. I mean, I can see how avoiding fatty foods can help, but unless its coupled with a solide exercice program, it must not be very effective? Let me know yours thoughts!

I just mentioned it in another post, but to me it's about a lifestyle not about a diet. Find what works for you. Everyone's body is different. People react different to certain foods, caloric intakes and so forth. Get to learn your body.

I agree 100% .... Diets to work you have to find out what works "best" for you and one with long term success.

i thought i read somewheres that the calories thing is a shame, that even if you reduce the intake of calories, your body will adapt to burn just that amount of calories....

Are you trying to say that if I lowered my daily caloric intake to say 2500 from 3000 that my body will adjust over time and automatically will burn the 2500 calories on a daily basis? That what your saying?

Thats my understanding of the situation, your bodie tries to adapt and survive with what you give it.

That doesn't make sense to me. If that was the case and we burnt all those calories on a regular basis we would automatically burn every single calorie that we put into our body every day.

i think i know what you mean; you are on a diet and after a while you stop losing weight; of course you think your body has adapt! it isn't the case,,,let me explain ( with my poor english);
the more you lose weight,the less calories your body need to fonction,,so when the balance is right between the absorbtion of calories and the needs your body has,,there isn't any lost no more,,,to keep losing weight you have to - drop the calories intake,,or do more exercises to burn them!
example; once you reach 120 pounds,, you would be eating about 1200 calories a day and you will stay at the same weight,,,if you want to keep losing weight,,you will have to do more cardio,,or eat less than 1200 calories! by the way,,,it doesn't matter where you take the 1200 calories! the body doesn't really care,,,only your health will suffer:o! you may be eating 1200 calories a days worth of chocolates or chips,,,,as long as you do not exceed 1200 calories,,,;)
